Dr. Mulinda Nyirenda is from Malawi. She has been passionate and committed to the ICMDA family since her medical student years, playing a significant role in national and Southern Africa regional activities. She was the chair of the organizing committee for the ICMDA Southern Africa Regional conference in 2004. She serves as the Malawi representative on the regional committee for Southern Africa since 2008. She has taken on an active mentorship role for CMDF students and junior doctors, assisting several groups with arrangements to attend ICMDA activities in the region and the World Congress.
She is a Consultant Physician and has pioneered the establishment of the Adult accident and Emergency Department at the largest teaching hospital in Malawi. She is actively involved with teaching undergraduate and post graduate medical students and other health care professionals. She also has an active research portfolio within local and international research covering HIV medicine, infectious disease, trauma and emergency care.
