Dr Tygie Sidhambaram Nadesan ( MB ChB, MFam Med, Dip HIV SA)
Born in Durban, South Africa in 1950
Tygie graduated from the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine, South Africa in 1976.Thereafter he obtained postgraduate qualifications in Family Medicine and HIV medicine.
He has served his local community for 37 years as a family physician. During his forty years as a doctor, he has served in many hospitals as a consultant, most notably Mc Cord Hospital, the premier South African hospital in the fight against HIV.
In 1996 he planted a local church, Newlands Christian Tabernacle, which he pastored for 10 years.
He serves on the board of his church and is both a preacher of the word and leader in music.
He has taken medical teams to Zimbabwe and is actively promoting community health projects locally.
He has served on the board of directors for Focus on the Family, South Africa and as principal site doctor for a PEPFAR funded private ARV roll out since 2005.
In 1972 he attended his first Student Christian Association conference in Lesotho and from then on he has always been associated with Christian medical students and doctors. He has served as the leader of the Durban CMF from 2003 to 2015. He has attended the ICMDA international conferences in Durban 1998 and in Rotterdam 2014.
He was appointed the Southern African Regional Representative in July 2016.
He and his wife, Saras, have raised three children and they now also have four grandsons
