Online Masters in Family Medicine is to gear family physicians with post graduate level of training, with minimal work place displacement. MFM is a 2 year blended, distant learning curriculum, which includes online module and face to face sessions to hone hands-on clinical skills.

The online module delivers updated clinical information. Reflection and application of Family Medicine principles and
Evidence Based Medicine is enhanced by forum discussion on case studies and research journals. Online tutorials enable
direct interaction with the MFM course tutors, Family Medicine and other specialists, across the globe. Periodic assignments on clinical and scientific topics builds up problem based learning which can be adapted to their clinical practice. Course enrolment provides access to the extensive on-line library resource of the University of Edinburgh.

The face to face contact sessions, spread out through the 2 academic years are held in international regional centers. Clinical exposure, discussions on family medicine principles and case scenarios with essential clinical skills practice are the highlights of these practical sessions. The sessions also establish professional and social networking among the participating family practitioners.

Course completion requirements include a dissertation on research or case based project and six week internship in any of the assigned mission hospitals. The project write up is linked to the World Health organization’s strategy on patient centered and integrated health services.
