Whole Person Care
The Whole Person Care Training Track is a ten-week course developed by PRIME.
What makes a really effective Health Care Professional?
Much of our training is directed toward knowledge and skills but what do patients value? Kindness, compassion and understanding are vital to our relationship with patients but often occupy only a small part of medical education.
This course will take you on a journey of discovery into the patient themselves, exploring their needs when suffering, our response to them and how it could be aligned to that of Jesus. We will use role play and other techniques to bring to life the art of communication, touching on those difficult conversations we have all experienced.
Throughout we will highlight the need to keep ourselves rooted in God’s Word, avoiding the potential dichotomy between our personal and professional lives.
It covers such topics as:
- Our Shared connection with God and each other and the values we hold
- A Biblical understanding of Whole Person Care
- Communication in the patient’s world (2 sessions)
- The evidence for what we teach
- The need for Spiritual care within health settings
- Care in the Mental Health dimension, including being trauma informed
- The central role of Compassion
- Caring within a Team – the need to work together
- Caring for Ourselves - Growing in our calling and avoiding burnout.
The training track will involve weekly interactive Zoom sessions. Prior to each session you will be expected to spend an hour in preparation each week to include looking at videos, reading and noting down your own reflections.
Each session will be for 90 minutes and consist of some short presentations but mainly sharing together in small groups.
