The International Postgraduate Diploma in Family Medicine (I-PGDFM) aims to train and certify doctors with postgraduate training in family medicine in the developing world and equip them professionally and spiritually to serve their country and the poor.
A blended learning curriculum delivering:
- Family Medicine Principles
- Evidence Based Medicine
- Clinical Knowledge Updates
- Clinical Skills Training
- Diagnostic and Investigation skills
- Rational Drug Therapy
- Primary care Research component
The I-PGDFM is an accredited distance education initiative by ICMDA, the Distance Education Unit of Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, India, and Loma Linda University (LLU), USA.
The two-year blended learning curriculum is designed to hone distinct family physician attitudes, skills and knowledge that qualify the physician to provide continuing, comprehensive medical and preventive care to families and the communities. The 'refer less, resolve more' motto of the course, sharing historical roots to family practice is a step towards a cost effective, patient centered, problem oriented, evidence based, global health care delivery system.
The International Postgraduate Diploma in Family Medicine is designed to train and equip doctors working in low to middle income countries. We have kept the cost of completing the training as low as possible, however, the course fees are still prohibitive for many excellent candidates who will need scholarships if they are to undertake it.
Would you consider donating to the scholarship fund to enable us to support those who would otherwise be unable to complete the I-PGDFM. Your gift will make a real difference in improving healthcare throughout the world.
The 2020 cohort had 32 students from 15 countries of whom 19 received scholarships covering a percentage of the annual fee. In 2021, there are a further 50 students with 33 requiring scholarships. More funds are needed to support these worthy candidates.
