WORLD CONGRESS BURSARIES
Asante Sana
(thank you in Swahili)
Thank you for your generosity in enabling us to offer 398 registration bursaries to doctors, dentists and medical & dental students, and travel bursaries to others, enabling them to attend the 17th ICMDA World Congress in Tanzania in June 2023.
Thanks to the generous giving of the Lord's people we raised $265,000 which exceeded our target and expectations!
The ICMDA World Congress is only held every four years and is often a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for those who attend.
Thank you for your support and investment in future Christian healthcare leaders.
Read testimonies from bursary recipients below.
I can't imagine how my life could be if I missed this ICMDA World Congress!!
I remember I applied, then I was kept on waiting list, I said please God make a way for me. Then I was glad to receive an e-mail that I got bursary!
Then there was a problem with getting permission from our university but the impact of prayers from all over the world opened up a way - we got permission!! Hallelujah!
Bupe, Student, Tanzania
The Congress was a life changing experience for me. It brought to light what the Lord is doing around the world and what he can do in my setting.
My highlights include the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership, the fact that students can and should make positive change in their societies and the importance of complete and utter dependence on the Lord Jesus Christ in all that I do.
Tinashe, Student, Zimbabwe
I had completely given up on the dream of being in Arusha for the Congress. I'm glad I was able to attend.
My take home was serving with compassion and love and to be diligent with whatever God entrusts me with.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to my attending the congress. May God Almighty greatly bless you.
Komuhangi, Junior Doctor, Uganda
The congress has been beyond my expectations. To me it was a wake up call that I can be a doctor and still serve God faithfully and consistently.
Thank you for the exposure and the insights. I promised myself to be a good ambassador of Christ in my profession, I promise to bear more fruits and be a living testimony in the next congress.
Vailet, Student, Tanzania
It was a great experience. The highlight for me was to see that our medical Christian world is so big and diverse, but we are all united through Christ.
World became smaller, and God - bigger.
I was also humbled to see how many Christian medical people were concerned and prayed for my country.
It was a very blessed time, and I am thankful to God and everyone who made this possible!
Diana, Senior Doctor, Russia
What I experienced was beyond the expectations:
1. I got a great revelation from Dr Voddie on serving with a calling... with this many of us will be transformed into Christian medics.
2. Got some insights on the best topics: leadership, mentorship and bioethics from rare speakers - what a privilege!
3. I got to interact with medics from all over the world. Through this conference I made up my mind to pursue Cardiology, even though am still a third-year medical student. Thanks be to God Almighty!
Anakala, Student, Kenya
It would be impossible for me to attend as I'm going through some issues, but thanks for granting me the bursary, I don't even know how to express my gratitude. I'm blessed beyond measure. God bless you.
Veveh, Junior Doctor, DR Congo
I have had a lot of experiences from this conference and it has enlightened me to know the importance of what we are really supposed to do as people of God and to use our talents to help the people in need of such help.
Hellen, Student, Tanzania
It was my first time attending an ICMDA World Congress. It has changed my way of serving people in need and sharing the gospel, and to be totally dependent on God like Jelena's plenary session.
Agness, Student, Tanzania
This was the first time I was able to attend a world congress and it was very impactful. I have recently started teaching and the PRIME lessons on medical education was practical in my work.
Moreover, I got to interact with Christians from all over the world which strengthened my faith to know there is such a great remnant.
Jane, Senior Doctor, Kenya
It motivates me to work by demonstrating the love of the Lord in our health system and also to encourage the members of our local movement to do the same. Thank you the Lord bless you.
Konan, Student, Guinea
I am so happy and moved for this event. It's the most beautiful moment I've ever imagined.
God is wonderful. I have seen almost all the colors of people that can exist because it is the world that has come together.
I will be grateful to God all my life and all my medical career. Thank you ICMDA!!!
Archippe, Student, Chad
The bursary gave me a precious opportunity to meet the global community that shares common values from different cultures, contexts, challenges, and accomplishments.
A week with so much rich spiritual food, information, and potential follow-up. It is like for me to meet my new village where I feel I belong.
Hotlin, Senior Doctor, Indonesia
Your support not only enabled me attend the congress but affirmed my faith in compassion, knowledge and spirituality in the field of healthcare.
With the congress fostering a sense of unity and community among attendees transcending cultural and geographical boundaries, I was able to forge meaningful relationships and establish connections with fellow healthcare professionals who share a common commitment to providing compassionate and holistic care.
May God bless you abundantly for your kindness.
Antonina, Student, Kenya
It was my first time to cross the borders of my country, and much more importantly for a meaningful reason to serve the good Lord and fellowship with the body of Christ, I saw the Revelation scripture fulfilled:
After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb...
Ngondwe, Junior Doctor, Uganda
I have had the privilege to be encouraged and renewed in the vision of medical mission. Now I am encouraging other health workers in the mission.
Josue, Senior Doctor, Iraq
In this congress God opened my eyes. I now consider my medicine and future profession as a minister for God and with God. And I know I am not alone. Brothers and sisters are working for God and are models.
The international night make me think about heaven where people from all over the world will be gathered in the Name of the One True God.
Blessings to all the donors whose made our participation possible.
Bamogo, Student, Burkina Faso
This was my first time to a world conference and I must say it was exciting and encouraging.
The expositor during the student's conference really encouraged me on the journey that I am in working in the public sector.
I just recently got into leadership and it had been so draining and discouraging but when I came for this conference and was reminded about serving with joy and love in a hurting world. I truly understood my mandate where God has placed me.
Pendo, Junior Doctor, Kenya
The Congress was great. Meeting people from all around the world but with two things in common: a God-loving heart and eagerness to serve Christ.
It made me (positively) question my commitment: How much do I love Christ and the people around me that I'm called to serve? Do I serve out of duty or out of love? For me that was a wakeup call.
