Invest in educating Christian indigenous missionary doctors in DR Congo
A Key Leader
Keren Lusunzo Kighoma is an 18 year old daughter of missionary parents, captivated by their ministry empowering Christian leaders for cross-cultural missions in the Eastern DRC context of war.
Along with her siblings, Keren benefited from her family’s reading culture. The story of Dr Helen Roseveare, a British medical missionary to the rainforest in DRC, fascinated her. Ever since, she resolved to study medicine with a conviction that God is calling her to serve as a missionary doctor among the poor.
Challenges to access quality education
She graduated from Lycée AMANI, a renowned catholic Girls’ High School in Goma/DRC, with 83% on her state examination in July 2024, one of only two girls to do so.
Nevertheless, she was not selected for a Baptist scholarship (which was awarded to a boy) nor was she interested to apply to the First lady’s scholarship sending students for technical fields.
An Opportunity in Uganda
Keren is now in Kampala improving her English skills at Makerere University and will start studying a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the Uganda Christian University in May 2025.
She will stay connected to ICMDA mentors in DRC while gaining medical exposure in a wider African context.
Would you consider supporting her financially to further her studies and therefore help train a future medical missionary for DRC.
Keren is well known within Francophone Africa region of ICMDA and comes with their commendation and support. Please get in touch with the team if you would like more information.
