Our Work
The International Christian Medical and Dental Association
exists to start and strengthen Christian national medical and dental movements.
We only have a small team of staff members, but we are supported by over 60 fieldworkers who cover every region of the world. These volunteers are at the heart of ICMDA's work. We have affiliated groups in nearly 100 countries and our prayer is that every nation would have a Christian witness through doctors and dentists.
Each of our 14 world regions has a Regional Secretary whose role is to promote the mission, vision and values of ICMDA. They work with Area & Regional Representatives to help member groups become strong and mature bodies. Where no group exists we work with local students and junior doctors, encouraging them to form a fellowship for mutual support and training.
A key part of our work is to train leaders and encourage national meetings and conferences. We hold regional leadership training events, conferences for specific language groups and regional congresses. Every four years we invite every national body to a World Congress for a week of fellowship, teaching and celebration.
We provide resources and courses for local groups to use, helping them grow in their ability to serve the Lord Jesus through healthcare.
The International Family Medicine programme is a unique two-year course that we run within a blended learning framework. Accredited by Loma Linda University, California and using a curriculum written by the renowned Christian Medical College, Vellore, the programme provides world class training in family medicine and general practice for international doctors serving in low and middle income countries.
