Project GROW
(Goma Relief for Orphans of War)
The city of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is witnessing an alarming increase in the number of orphaned and vulnerable children. Due to the compounded effects of civil conflict, poverty, and disease, thousands of children are now without adequate support for essential needs. This need has been hugely intensified by the recent invasion by M23 rebels.
Led by Dr John Musubao, leader of the DRC Christian Medical Association (AMC), the ED Organisation is currently caring for over 1,000 orphans. Their resources are limited, forcing them to prioritise the most immediate needs, such as providing a basic daily meal. Tragically, some children have already succumbed to malnutrition and preventable illnesses due to a lack of sustained support.

Every day, John and his team serve each child a single meal of porridge, a lifeline for many yet insufficient to address their comprehensive nutritional and developmental needs.
Your support will help them to:
- Reduce malnutrition rates among orphans and vulnerable children by increasing food distribution from one meal to at least two meals daily.
- Provide medical assistance for illness prevention, health check-ups, and emergency interventions, thereby reducing child mortality rates.
- Increase access to education by enrolling children in local schools, providing learning materials, and hiring educators for supplementary teaching.
- Improve mental and emotional well-being through psycho-social support services tailored to children who have faced significant trauma.
- Instil hope and a sense of belonging, building a safe, community-based environment where children feel secure and valued.

Can you help?
With your help, ICMDA would like to raise £20,000 ($25,000) from Christian doctors and dentists to help alleviate this situation. We anticipate a measurable improvement in child survival rates, health outcomes, and educational participation for Goma's orphaned and at-risk children.
ED’s long-term vision is to nurture a new generation of educated and resilient leaders who, despite hardship, are equipped to contribute positively to society. These children represent the future of Goma and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Your help will enable us to grant them the basic rights of food, health, education, and hope.
‘The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did
for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine,
you did for me.”’
