Middle East & North Africa (MENA)
ICMDA's MENA region covers the Middle East and North Africa. There are 19 countries here and three have national fellowships affiliated with ICMDA - two in Egypt (CMF, DWAM) and one in Sudan (SCMF).
Ministry in the MENA region can be very challenging with Christians often facing severe persecution. Sadly, 18 countries in the region feature in Open Doors World Watch List of places where Christians face the most extreme persecution. However, in spite of opposition, the church is growing here and the gospel is bearing fruit!
There are 212 medical schools in MENA serving 417 million people, with Arabic being the dominant language. Egypt has the largest population and is home to more than half of all Christians in the area.
