Developing Volunteer Leaders

Growing a Healthy Volunteer Culture. Have you ever wondered how to engage people in your ministry who aren’t staff? Did you know that a motivated and engaged volunteer will often bring more value to your work than a paid staff member?

In this 6-week program of webinars we’ll look at the Biblical basis for volunteering and learn how to embed healthy principles in your context. This will mean growth both for your ministry but also for the people God is calling to work with you. We’ll look at some tools developed at Christian Medical Fellowship UK across a number of volunteer roles and as a group share experiences and what has worked in our various contexts.

Course content:

  1. The Heart of a Volunteer – the biblical basis for a volunteer ministry
  2. The Habits of a Volunteer – key ingredients for a thriving volunteer ministry
  3. Lead with vision – how to deliver a compelling message to attract volunteers
  4. Choose with care – how to get the right people in the right places
  5. Invest with diligence – how to equip your volunteers for maximum effectiveness
  6. Lead for multiplication – how to grow leader volunteers who lead others

The methodology of the programme will be through short interactive webinars and then some exercises which will be sent to delegates before and after each session.

There will be 6 webinars of one hour each, spread over 6 weeks, which are mandatory for all trainees to attend. You can watch the content before the session and the webinar will be an opportunity to unpack and discuss application and your questions. After each session there will be short reflections and exercises to complete. The trainee will need to set aside two hours a week for this program (30 minutes watching content, 1 hour webinar, 30 minutes exercises post session)

We can take up to 10 people on this program. Ideally, they are those who are leading other volunteers at a local, national or regional level.
