#85 Paediatric Orthopaedics in Sub-Saharan Africa
With Prof Chris Lavy
This webinar will review paediatric orthopaedic surgical needs in sub-Saharan Africa and the key pathologies which fall into the four categories of:
- Congenital
- Infective
- Developmental
- Trauma
The evidence base for the burden of disease will be considered. Prof Lavy will also look at how such a great burden of conditions can be treated and will cover the set up of dedicated training institutions such as COSECSA, and the building of facilities in conjunction with ministries of health and mission health services. The talk will also consider future needs and how clinicians can cooperate globally.
